A felony, an appeal, a tax related charge or a sentence that no longer fits the person you are today is not a routine problem.

Andrew Thompson and Landmark Legal represent people facing felonies, appeals, sentence modification, post-conviction relief, tax-related charges, and other serious criminal matters. We begin by telling you, plainly, what is realistically on the table.

How we take a case

We do not treat every file as a plea waiting to happen. First we walk through the possible outcomes and the steps required to reach each one. Then we listen to the result you hope for, and we tell you what is a reasonable expectation and what is not.

If your stated goal is a negotiated resolution, we pursue that with care. Otherwise we come to the case intending to seek a dismissal or to try it, and to hold the government to its burden of proof. We cannot guarantee a result. We can guarantee that the strategy is the one you chose after hearing the real options.

Representation we offer

Felonies. From a first serious charge to a complex case with multiple counts, we defend people accused of felony offenses, including matters that may end in dismissal, trial, or a resolution shaped around your goals.

Appeals. A conviction or an adverse ruling is not always the last word. We review the record for preserved error, unlawful procedure, and issues worth taking up on appeal.

Sentence modification. Time served, changed circumstances, and the law itself can support a request to change a sentence. We evaluate whether a modification is available and worth pursuing.

Post-conviction relief. When the direct appeal is over, post-conviction proceedings may still address constitutional claims, ineffective assistance, and other grounds for relief, including habeas-related work where it applies.

Tax-related charges. Criminal tax allegations — failure to file, evasion, false returns, and related accusations — carry both criminal exposure and lasting financial consequences. These cases need a defense that understands both.

Other serious charges. Bonds, warrants, and non-routine criminal litigation sit alongside the core practice. If the charge is serious and the stakes are your liberty, your record, or your future, ask us whether we can help.

Felony Defense

From basic defense work in felony related matters to the most challenging work on writs of habeas corpus or otherwise, Landmark Legal Services, though Andrew Thompson, provides criminal defense focused on achieiving the outcomes our clients are seeking. We see our approach as novel.

We first discuss the potential outcomes with our clients, and the steps involved, and then listen carefully to the outcome they hope to achieve. We then advise them on the reasonable expectations they have, and allow them to decide what we will pursue. We only take cases with the idea they will end in a plea agreement when that is the client’s stated intent. Otherwise, we come to the case with the intention of getting the case dismissed or taking it to a jury trial, proving reasonable doubt with respect to the charges that are in play, and giving our clients their life back in tact.

While we can never guaranty any result, we have had tremendous success with our approach and see many of our clients acquitted and their lives restored.

Bonds, Warrants, Appeals and PCRs

we also handle all of the non-traditional types of litigation involved when someone is charged with a crime. From bond reductions to warrant recalls to habeas corpus cases, and including appeals and post-conviction relief claims, we can help with any of your needs. Again, our approach is highly client focused and we work hard to obtain the best outcome we can for you.
